Christmas with Queenie

Created by Carol 6 years ago
Hello.
I am Frances Sister, Roy's Sister - law and Aunt to my beautiful nieces Alice and Jenny.
I would like to tell you about Christmas with Queenie who I looked upon as my surrogate Grandmother.
Some of you may know that I have worked in elderly care for 30 yrs.
Queenie was different and very special. She had such sweet nature and saw the good in everyone.
Although she struggled with her memory she was as sharp as pin.Last Christmas she astonished us all by remembering my name,Carol,Christmas Carols she said.Considering I only saw her once a year this was pretty spectacular and I will always remember it.
She adored her girls although never remembered boy friends names.Alice and Jenny were so tender towards her.
She loved her daughter in law Frances who is the organiser of the family. We celebrated a wonderful 100th birthday.
But most of all,Roy was the apple of her eye and she rose to the occasion by getting up to dance with him even at such a ripe old age.She was known as "Ma" to Roy and Grandma" to the girls. I always found this so endearing.
We have all laughed at Queenies expense particularly the Ferrero chocolates which she got so excited by and lots of other funny stories
Rest in peace Queenie
You will be sadly missed
